What is Daimoku

Daimoku is chanting...
NAM - To devote ones life to...
MYOHO - The Mystic Law, where 'Myo' is the name given to the mystic nature of life and to 'Ho' its manifestation.
RENGE - Literally 'lotus flower' which symbolizes the simultaneity of Cause and Effect.
KYO Sutra, the voice or teaching of the Buddha. This is the sound or viberation that connects everythingin the universe together.

Based on the Lotus Sutra (the culimation or final teaching of the buddha), Nichiren Daishonin (b. 1222) taught that all humanity inherently contains the potential for Buddhahood (as the first buddha discovered), a state of life filled with wisdom, courage and compassion that can be revealed by chanting 'nam-myoho-renge-kyo' (aka 'daimoku'). As we chant Daimoku this buddha state quite natrally emerges from within, enabling us to draw on limitless inner resources and activly contribute to a creative and peaceful society (kosen-rufu).
