Warning: This is not for everyone
There are as I see it two forms of buddhism (people) in the world. The first form is the one that is happy with their life, they are content.
They just do what the boss tells them and they clock off at 5pm the work to live. This kind of person is not interested in self-actualization, they are not interested in manifesting.
More over, this kind of buddhist is more likely to practice the first form of buddhism, the one that is more about the rituals and the traditions, with meditation being the main focus.
As wonderful as meditation is you can meditation on impermanence, that this world is an illusion, and as Neo found in the Matrix, some prefer life like that.
This form can make you blissfully happy - if it's an illusion then choose happiness and bring it from within.
There is a downside to this form of buddhism, it is that it can make you complacent,
it can make you not want to change your life (its not real is it),
it can make you not want to change your destiny (wait till I am reborn).
The downside of this form of buddhism, it wont fix the hole in the roof (what roof?), it wont pay the bills (what bills?).
When I was talking about developing an App for Buddhists - I was slapped down with the statement "Buddhists don't have money!".
Alternatively
Being the Scriptwriter of your own life, what does this actually mean?
It means that you are the one who is in control of your life, of your destiny.
You are the one who is in control of your future, your happiness, your success.
You are the one who is in control of your health, your relationships.
You are the one who is in control of your finances, your career -
Not someone else - you own it!
In Nichiren Buddhism, we have a concept called "Changing Karma into Mission" - this is the concept of changing your destiny, changing your life, changing your future.
We are Empowered to change our lives, through our own thoughts, through our own words, through our own actions.
You may have heard of the 0-1-2-3 Campaign .
Zero complaints, One hour of chanting Daimoku a day, Twenty Minutes of Study, Connect with 3 members a day.
But why No Complaining or Blaming?
Because it is a waste of time, it is a negative energy, it is a negative karma, it is negative thought (thought begets form), it is negative action (cause and effect).
But most of all if you blame others you have Lost All Control, you are a passive victim, so how can you be a script-writer?
No excuses like English is not my first language, I am gay, dyslexic and old,or,
I am too young, too busy, too tired, too poor, too fat/thin/tall/short and the list goes on.
The worst I have heard is "Because Im Marked!"
These are just excuses for not taking accountability.
Hearing people complain shows a total lack of perspective, if you are reading this you have access to the Internet and a Computer or Mobile,
maybe in a cafe with coffee and food.
There are people who have no food, no water, no shelter, no family, no friends, no hope, no future - but you are not one of them.
But why No Taking Accountability?
Typically, a common reason is that people are afraid of failure, they are afraid of rejection, they are afraid of being judged (parents have a lot to answer for sometimes),
they are afraid of being wrong and for years they Procrastinate - I did!
But this is a fork in the road, a micro-decision (Fight or Flight), Give Up or Take Action, there are lots of these micro-decisions that have a compound effect (see book Atomic Habits).
One YouTube sensation I know of, whose, biggest fear was talking to camera, he recorded on his phone over and over, in a locked room, no one saw the evidence, just him.
One day his was brave enough to show his brother, then his friends, then his family, then the world - he is now a millionaire.
Many of us have a story,a journey like that - it's a choice, a fork in the road.
Mine was performing in front of people, I was so nervous I was shaking, I was sweating, I was stuttering, I was forgetting my lines - my performance - Leading Gongyo!
I hated being the center of attention, because I was bullied at school, I was the only one there who has a posh-school ascent,
anything I said I got negative attention (feedback) and so bullied. I was the one who was different - I did not know the impact of changing school.
I was too used to being the victim, I was too used to being the one who was different,
oh and being the Gay Dyslexic kid in the school did not help in those days - Queer and Stupid.
I determined to change my life - This was my karma, and my human revolution - this practice addressed transforming Karma into Mission, 'Poison' into 'Medicine'
What this means now is that I am a Problem Solver, I am a Leader, I am a Scriptwriter - I am a Champion.
Any Soka/Lilac youth will show you that they are a Problem Solver they take the lead - they do it at every event,
they do it at every meeting, they practice and hone such skills.
We are all good at something so we play to our strengths. Luckily, the Youth Division has young men and women that were taught to be capable people, they were taught to be leaders,
they were taught to be the best they can be. They were taught to be the scriptwriters of their own lives.
When you chant with such conviction - anything is possible.
What this means is that successful traits are developed, understanding about Human Revolution (or evolution) means that you are always improving,
always learning, always growing.
Because you know about Sansho Shima (Three obstacles and Four Devils) you know that you will be tested, you know that you will be challenged,
you know that you will be attacked - yet you stay motivated and never give up - you are a Problem Solver.
This is why we have Soka at events, they fix things so the event runs smoothly, they are trained and develop their skills.
Skill is the application of knowledge, skills are honed through practice - that's why we have a practice.
There was once a man who looked in a mirror one day, and did not like what he saw, so he cleaned and polished that mirror, still not quite right he thought.
He went out and bought a new mirror, fixed it to the wall and looking quite impressive, it all looks so dirty.
Then he washed his face, and the mirror was clean and clear, and he saw himself for the first time.
This is approach is a formula for success, this is a formula for happiness, this is a formula for self-actualization that Nichiren Buddhism taught in the 12th century.
Check List
#Todo...
- Every problem has a solution - You must approach every challenge with “What's the solution here?ˮ
- Skill is practice of Knowledge for Repeatable Results
- Failure is necessary Feedback to improve.
- Make long term decisions - each day is made up of micro-decisions that can move closer or further away from your goal.

Most people give up just before they are about to succeed, they give up because they are not seeing results,
they give up because they are not getting the feedback they want.
Do more of the good things that feed your goals and less of the bad things that detract from your goals.
- Every problem has a solution - You must approach every challenge with “What's the solution here?ˮ
This is drummed into every Soka Youth I know of, they are taught to be problem solvers to be the best they can be - the are capable people.
- Daimoku is not a magic wand, you have to take action.
Man asks god 'Why dont I win the Lottery?', God says 'Meet me half way and buy a ticket!'
5 stages of goal achievement
There will be times when you feel like giving up, but remember that success is a journey, not a destination.
Set SMART goals that are clear, challenging, and realistic: Make sure your goals are specific and time-bound [5, specific measurable achievable realistic time-bound].
Here are five stages of goal achievement that you may experience along the way - this is what helped me, if you know the road ahead, like the pot-holes, the drive is so much better - have a plan for the dip-days.
These feeling are normal, the valley of despair is where most people quit and they look over the fence, the grass is always greener on the other side, and the same pattern repeats itself.
- Uninformed optimism: The first stage, when you're ready to take on the world with a positive attitude - How hard can it be!
- Informed pessimism: Hey there is a lot more to this than I though, every some I lift up has a bag of worms under it so Be Patient: Don't expect to achieve your goals overnight.
- Valley of despair: There is so much to do, your feel overwhelmed, then they look over the fence at the greener grass or the next new shiny thing, and the same pattern repeats itself (go to step #1) -
This is where 90% of people QUIT.
So Remind yourself of your abilities: Believe in yourself and your ability to succeed. Consider asking your team members for support and input.
- Informed optimism: You now see how all the bits clearly fit together.
- Success and fulfillment: The final stage, when you've achieved your goals and can enjoy the rewards
Manifesting in Buddhism
Manifesting in Buddhism
At a top level view we do Manifesting all the time just replace 'The Universe' with 'The Mystic Law' and 'The Law of Attraction' with 'Cause and Effect'.
But some get better results than others, some are more successful than others - why is that?
I can only speak from my own experience, but I have also seen it in others.
The first thing is that you have to be clear about what you want, you have to be specific to have clear intent.
You have to be able to see it, feel it, believe it, smell it, hear it - you have to be able to visualize it.
You give Gratitude for it, as it already exist in your life - This is in part because you are working with your subconscious mind,
which does not understand negation (I DONT want this), Past/Future and is always working to make your reality match your thoughts.
It is also because you are working for Kosen Rufu, the happiness of all concerned, and so you are working with the Mystic Law - you build up that energy
That said, whilst I see the Gohonzon much like a Cosmic Vending Machine,
I also see it as a mirror, a reflection of my life, my thoughts, my actions - Its not a magic wand
