Resonance and Esho Funi
In: Buddhism, CFOD
According to The Law of Resonance, you can only attract the kinds of people and situations from outside of yourself that mirror your inner-self.
Resonance, expresses the way in which two or more apparently different things or phenomena selectively communicate (are linked), being integrated into an unitary Whole. The links which unite all things in the Universe (physical objects, mental processes, psychic phenomena, spiritual levels, in other words everything manifested) have as basis the process of Resonance.
It is very important to understand that resonance starts only when the frequency of the two systems
(the receiving and the emitting) are very close or identical.
The emitting is us chanting with deliberate intent.
Taoist say
"The silence in silence is not the true Silence. Only when there is calmness in movement, the spiritual rhythm [vibration] which penetrates the Sky and the Earth is born."
The scientists say
"Everything is vibration. Everything is movement.
The Void [Primordial Substratum] fluctuates, according to certain laws, between Existence and Non-existence. The quanta [a small, indivisible unit of energy] born as a result of the vibratory movement of the void, are ’virtual’, i.e. they do not materialize into real particles that can be observed.
They need a certain mass and energy in order to have material existence."
Buddhism says
One’s life and the environment are often viewed as being completely distinct, but from the comprehensive viewpoint of Buddhist philosophy, they are one and inseparable.
The mystic law of Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō exists in all things and connects all things.
The Hall of a Thousand Mirrors
Somewhere, in a land far away, there was a temple that housed a hall of one thousand mirrors. One day it so happened that a dog got lost in the temple and arrived at this hall. Suddenly confronted with one thousand of his mirror images, he growled and barked at these presumed enemies. These, however, returned his growling and teeth flashing a thousand times over. The dog in turn got even more aggressive. And as the situation got more and more heated, the dog got more and more out of control, and finally reached such an extreme state of aggression and exertion that he dropped dead.
Some time passed, and along came another dog, who also got lost in the temple and arrived at the same hall of one thousand mirrors. This dog, too, saw that he was surrounded by one thousand dogs of his kind. He then started to wag his tail with joy at these other dogs and, in return, one thousand dogs happily wagged their tails back at him.
Happy and encouraged, the dog found a way out of the temple.
Ten Thousand Mirrors
This is an old story, but same mirrors but 2 dogs. The cosmic ordering would tell you that 'nature' is interested in happy people.
Buddhism would tell you its just the mechanics of the universe, that thought begets form.
The law of attraction will tell you what you expect to happen is what you are pulling into your life.
In Nichiren buddhism, we talk about polishing our mirror by chanting Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō this will enhance our life state much like the second dog.
With our left, logical side of the brain, we can take in approximately seven impressions per second (light, sounds, smells, etc.).
With the right, creative side of the brain we can process up to 10,000 impressions per second.
Most of these then get stored in our subconscious.
In other words: The ratio of things we can consciously see and understand, to things our inner voice, our subconscious, knows, is approximately 7:10,000.
In this sense, we know at least one thousand times as much as we know that we know, so how you your harness all of that?
When we chant Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō we fully engage creative side of the brain we clearly communicate intent to our inner voice, our subconscious and to the Gohonzon.
Whist we may think of the Gohonzon as outside of our selves, it is in fact in front of ourselves as we chant to it, it is but a mirror of ourselves.
In the text of the True Aspect of All Phenomena (shohō-jissō), the Daishonin states that ‘all beings and environments in the Ten Worlds, from hell, the lowest, to Buddhahood, the highest, are without exception manifestations of Myoho-renge-kyo.
That is, Myoho-renge-kyo is everywhere, in everything, connecting everything.
So now we see Resonance is a different light, it is being at one with the mystic law Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō, and having it working through our lives.
The True Aspect of All Phenomena (shohō-jissō)
The ultimate truth or reality that permeates all phenomena and is in no way separate from them.
A principle expressed in the “Expedient Means” (second) chapter of the Lotus Sutra.
Chanting and Resonance
When you are chanting you dont want negative thoughts, as effectively that is what you are chanting for, the subconscious does not understand 'negation' nor does the Mystic Law.
Its a lot harder to have negative thoughts when in a relaxed state, so your first bit if chanting daimoku gets you relaxed and in a calmer mind.
You buddha-state should be a happy and relaxed state.
Chant from the Point of Victory
There are countless meditations about making a stronger commitment to yourself, but to have to ask why does this matter?
If you dont believe that something is true, then your subconscious sure as well wont,
like if you gave up last time you will give it this time, thats your restrictive patter, your habit.
You need to create a new habit, in James Clears book Atomic Habits
you have to chip away at habits formed even since childhood that have become unconscious routines, which may have been good way back then by now no longer serve you as they once did.
What this now means you have to determine to live your true life, it is ok to put yourself first (you are a scriptwriter of your own life and to are the protagonist in it).
Being a buddhist is not being a 'door mat' where you become drained and tired, and with this exhaustion comes resentment and so negativity.
With the basics of manifesting we chant giving gratitude in advance for what has become reality in our lives.
If you think and act like you have got what you were canting for then your subconscious will believe you and help organize your life in that direction.
Don't think that the subconscious is a replacement for the Mystic Law, but they do seem to be well connected.
So going back to resonance, what are your in resonance with, what do you choose to be in rhythm with?
As a buddhist, we seek to be instep with the Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō, which connects us to and reveals our buddha-nature.
Chanting Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō brings us in Resonance, with the universe, which is Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō.
What are you going to do with Resonance?
You can be Polishing your Mirror
the mirror that reflects your Truest Self which will elevate your life state (with in the 10 worlds) towards the buddha life state,
from this state on infinite wisdom and compassion you can make better choices in your life.
Which comes back to Resonance with the Mystic law, and what is in your heart as a script writer of your own life - you choose.
In chapter 16, The Life Span of the Thus Come One LSOC, pp. 265-66
‘It has
been immeasurable, boundless
hundreds, thousands, ten
thousands, millions of
nayutas of kalpas since I in fact attained
Buddhahood.’
This signifies that the life‑state of
the Buddha is eternal and always
present
The teaching of the true aspect of all phenomena reveals that not only Buddhas, but the beings of the other nine worlds are all equal because each of the Ten Worlds possesses all of the ten and are essentially embodiments of Myōhō Renge Kyō.
Which means it does not matter what world you are in at the moment, Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō exists in them all.
In teaching before the lotus sutra, you could never reach buddhahood in this life time and definitely not as a woman,
and a fortunate rebirth into one of these worlds/universes.
Whereas post-Lotus Sutra, these worlds are life states or life conditions, for example the world of Hunger (the hungry ghosts) is the life state of hunger.
Hunger is a life state that alcoholics or other addicts are all to familiar with - they we not born there.
Cosmically it is a choice, just as karma in a deeply ingrained habit, its not like you were marked at birth.
So even in a Hellish life-state you can chant for a different one.
Shakyamuni was an ordinary man that discovered his buddahood, so if one ordinary human can do it so can any other.
In the latter part of the Lotus Sutra, Shakyamuni concluded that his original
enlightenment in the remote past, 'Originally I practised the bodhisattva way, and the life span that I acquired then has yet to come to an end but will last twice the number of years that have already passed.’
(LSOC, p. 268)'
This means that the nine worlds, represented by the life‑state of a bodhisattva, are also eternal and always present.
